Semrush pricing: how much Semrush costs per month, per year, and per tracked keyword
The short answer
Semrush lists four plans in August 2026: SEO at $139 a month, Starter at $199, Pro+ at $299 and Advanced at $549, falling to $117.33, $165.17, $248.17 and $455.67 a month on annual billing. Position Tracking is included on all four. The daily keyword allowance is 500 on both SEO and Starter, 1,500 on Pro+ and 5,000 on Advanced, so the jump from $139 to $199 buys you research and competitor tooling, not more keywords. If you find prices for a Pro, Guru or Business plan, they are out of date. Those plans are gone.
Prices and allowances below were read off semrush.com/pricing and semrush.com/prices on August 12, 2026 and re-verified on August 20, 2026. Serpstracker is a competing rank tracker and is not affiliated with Semrush. The section on where Semrush is worth paying for is as specific as the rest of the page.

What Semrush costs in August 2026.
Four paid tiers, no free plan. The annual price is billed as a year up front and works out around 16 percent below the monthly rate. The column that decides whether Semrush is expensive for you is the fourth one, because that is the number a rank tracker is actually sold on.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual, per month | Keywords tracked daily | Websites |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SEO | $139 | $117.33 | 500 | 5 |
| Starter | $199 | $165.17 | 500 | 5 |
| Pro+ | $299 | $248.17 | 1,500 | 15 |
| Advanced | $549 | $455.67 | 5,000 | 40 |
Semrush also sells an Enterprise tier on request rather than list price, and quotes it against user count, data limits and API usage. We do not publish a figure for it because Semrush does not, and any number you see attached to Semrush Enterprise on a third party site is a guess. Semrush One is marketed as a separate product rather than a fifth row on this table, so treat articles that fold it into the plan ladder with care.
The $60 step from SEO to Starter buys you no extra keywords.
This is the part most pricing summaries skip, and it is the part that costs people money. Semrush lists the SEO plan and the Starter plan with the same tracking capacity: five websites to monitor and 500 keywords to track daily. Paying $199 instead of $139 does not widen the tracker. It adds keyword research and optimization tooling, competitor insight tooling, and the AI visibility features. If your reason for buying Semrush is that you need to watch more keywords, the first upgrade that actually does that is Pro+ at $299, which triples the list to 1,500.
| Step up | Extra cost a month | What you actually gain |
|---|---|---|
| SEO to Starter | $60 | Keyword research and optimization tools, competitor insight tools, AI visibility features. Tracking stays at 500 keywords and 5 websites. |
| Starter to Pro+ | $100 | Tracking triples to 1,500 keywords and 15 websites. This is the first step that buys tracking capacity. |
| Pro+ to Advanced | $250 | Tracking reaches 5,000 keywords and 40 websites, the ceiling before Enterprise. |
Position Tracking itself is included on every plan including the $139 one, and Semrush lists those 500 keywords as tracked daily rather than weekly. That matters, because daily is not the default everywhere in this category. Ahrefs, for one, refreshes its rank tracker weekly unless you buy an add-on, which is covered in our Ahrefs alternatives breakdown.
Pro, Guru and Business are retired. Most articles still sell them.
Search for Semrush pricing and you will mostly find a three tier ladder called Pro, Guru and Business, usually at $129.95, $249.95 and $499.95, or the annual equivalents. None of those plan names appear anywhere on Semrush pricing pages in August 2026. We checked both semrush.com/pricing and semrush.com/prices on the same day and got the same four names each time: SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced. Review sites, comparison roundups and even articles dated 2026 are still quoting the old ladder, and several mix the two, describing a Guru seat add-on next to a Pro+ price.
What you will see quoted
Pro $129.95, Guru $249.95, Business $499.95, or the annual figures $117.33, $208.33 and $416.66. Some pages also quote a cost for extra Guru users.
What Semrush lists today
SEO $139, Starter $199, Pro+ $299, Advanced $549 monthly. Annual $117.33, $165.17, $248.17, $455.67. Enterprise on request.
Why the confusion sticks
The old annual Pro price and the new annual SEO price are both $117.33, so a stale page can look current at a glance. Check the plan NAME, not the number.
How to check it yourself
Open semrush.com/pricing in a private window. Pricing pages localize by country and currency, so a figure from a screenshot in someone else's article may never have applied to you.
We keep running into this. The same failure mode shows up on Ranktracker pricing, where third party sites still list four plan names the vendor retired. Treat any SEO tool price you did not read on the vendor page this month as a rumour.
Cost per keyword checked daily, every month.
Divide the monthly list price by the number of keywords the plan checks every day. It is the only figure that compares a suite against a dedicated tracker on the one job they both do. Read it with the caveat in the next section, because this table is deliberately unkind to Semrush: it prices a platform as though the tracker were all you were buying.
| Tool and plan | Monthly price | Keywords daily | Cost per daily keyword |
|---|---|---|---|
| Serpstracker Agency | $249 | 5,000 | $0.050 |
| SE Ranking Core | $129 | 2,000 | $0.065 |
| Serpstracker Growth | $99 | 1,500 | $0.066 |
| Ranktracker Launch | $39 | 500 | $0.078 |
| Semrush Advanced | $549 | 5,000 | $0.110 |
| AccuRanker Professional | $224 | 2,000 | $0.112 |
| Serpstracker Starter | $39 | 250 | $0.156 |
| Semrush Pro+ | $299 | 1,500 | $0.199 |
| Semrush SEO | $139 | 500 | $0.278 |
| Semrush Starter | $199 | 500 | $0.398 |
Annual billing moves the Semrush rows down but does not reorder them: SEO becomes $0.235 and Advanced $0.091. The shape holds. Semrush is at its most competitive on tracking at the top of the range, where Advanced spreads $549 across 5,000 daily keywords, and at its least competitive on Starter, where $199 still only covers 500. A fuller version of this table across eleven tools sits on our rank tracker cost comparison.
The per keyword table is unfair, and here is why.
Nobody buys Semrush to track keywords. They buy a platform and the tracker comes with it. Judging $549 against a $249 tracker is like pricing a car by its stereo. If the following describe you, Semrush is the cheaper purchase even at four times the per keyword rate, because the alternative is three or four subscriptions that add up to more.
You do keyword research weekly
The keyword database and the research workflow are the reason most teams pay. A dedicated tracker does not replace it, and neither do we. We track the list you already decided on.
You need site audits and backlinks in one place
Semrush covers technical audits, backlink analysis, content tooling and advertising research under one login. Buying those separately is usually more expensive and always more admin.
You report to clients on more than rankings
Traffic estimates, share of search, ad spend and competitor content all live in the same account, which makes a monthly deck faster to assemble than stitching exports together.
You are already on Advanced
At $549 for 5,000 daily keywords and 40 websites, the tracking is genuinely priced in. Swapping it out for a dedicated tracker saves less than people assume once you count the seats.
When the tracker is the only part you use.
There is a specific, common situation where Semrush pricing stops making sense: the research phase is over, the keyword list is settled, and the only thing anyone opens the account for is the position report. At that point you are paying suite prices for a spreadsheet that updates itself. Plenty of teams keep Semrush for a quarterly research sprint and move the daily watching somewhere cheaper, which is covered in do you need a rank tracker with Semrush or Ahrefs.
| Plan | Monthly | Keywords, checked daily | Sites and seats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $39 | 250 | 3 sites, 1 competitor |
| Growth | $99 | 1,500 | 10 sites, 5 competitors, 3 seats |
| Agency | $249 | 5,000 | Unlimited sites, 10 seats, CSV export and API |
What we do not do
Serpstracker tracks Google only, daily, by location and device, and stores the organic top 10 behind every check. We do not have a keyword research database, a site audit crawler, a backlink index, or advertising research. If you need any of those, a suite is the right purchase and this page is not trying to talk you out of it. Yearly billing takes 20 percent off our list prices and there is no free plan.
The questions people ask before they subscribe.
How much does Semrush cost?
In August 2026 Semrush lists four plans: SEO at $139 a month, Starter at $199, Pro+ at $299 and Advanced at $549. Annual billing reduces those to $117.33, $165.17, $248.17 and $455.67 a month. Enterprise is quoted on request. There is no free plan, though a limited free account and trials exist.
How much does Semrush cost per month?
Paid monthly, Semrush costs $139 for the SEO plan, $199 for Starter, $299 for Pro+ and $549 for Advanced. Paid annually the same plans work out at $117.33, $165.17, $248.17 and $455.67 a month, billed as one payment for the year, which is roughly a 16 percent saving.
How much does Semrush cost per year?
Twelve months of the SEO plan at the annual rate is about $1,408, Starter about $1,982, Pro+ about $2,978 and Advanced about $5,468. Paying month to month for a full year instead costs $1,668, $2,388, $3,588 and $6,588 respectively, so annual billing saves roughly $260 to $1,120 depending on tier.
How many keywords can you track with Semrush?
Position Tracking covers 500 keywords daily on both the SEO and Starter plans, 1,500 on Pro+ and 5,000 on Advanced. Website limits are 5, 5, 15 and 40. Because SEO and Starter carry the same 500 keyword ceiling, upgrading from $139 to $199 does not give you room for more keywords.
Does Semrush have a free plan?
Semrush does not sell a free subscription tier. It offers a free account with heavily limited daily lookups and has historically offered a seven day trial on paid plans. Continuous daily tracking of a saved keyword list requires a paid plan starting at $139 a month.
Is Semrush worth the money?
It is worth it if you use the research, audit, backlink and content tools regularly, because replacing them individually usually costs more. It is poor value if the only thing you open is Position Tracking, since $139 for 500 daily keywords is around four times what a dedicated tracker charges for the same job.
What is the difference between the Semrush SEO plan and the Starter plan?
Tracking capacity is identical at 500 daily keywords and 5 websites. The extra $60 a month buys keyword research and optimization tools, competitor insight tools and AI visibility features. Choose Starter for the research tooling, not for the tracker, because the tracker does not change.
Does Semrush update rankings daily?
Yes. Semrush lists its tracked keyword allowance as keywords tracked daily on every plan, including the $139 SEO tier. Daily is not universal in this category: Ahrefs refreshes its rank tracker weekly by default and charges for a daily add-on, and Moz and Mangools run weekly on most tiers.
How much does Semrush Enterprise cost?
Semrush does not publish a price for Enterprise. It is quoted per customer against user count, data limits, API usage and feature requirements, and normally sold as an annual or multi year agreement. Any specific dollar figure you find on a third party site for Semrush Enterprise is an estimate, not a list price.
Why do other sites say Semrush costs $129.95 for Pro?
Because those pages have not been updated. The Pro, Guru and Business plan names were retired and do not appear on Semrush pricing pages in August 2026. The current ladder is SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced. Confusingly, the old annual Pro price and the new annual SEO price are both $117.33.
For the category wide budgeting question, how much a rank tracker costs explains the pricing units tools use, and is Semrush worth it works through the decision by team size.
