SEOwl, priced per keyword
SEOwl alternative and SEOwl pricing compared per daily keyword
The short answer
SEOwl is a French rank tracker with backlink monitoring included: $25 a month for 250 keywords, $65 for 1,000 and $139 for 3,000, or ten months' price for a year. It wins on features and on monthly price. Its ladder jumps from 1,000 straight to 3,000, though, so a list of 1,500 Google keywords costs $139 there and $99 here, or $49.50 a month on our yearly billing.
SEOwl plans, yearly prices and the keyword rule below are read from seowl.co/pricing and seowl.co/rank-tracker in October 2026. We are not affiliated with SEOwl.

SEOwl pricing on monthly and yearly billing.
SEOwl sells three fixed plans plus a Custom tier. Every plan monitors rankings, backlinks and pages together, so the keyword number is only one of three allowances on each card. Websites, reports and alerts are unlimited on all of them.

- Backlinks
- 30,000
- Pages
- 3,000
Everything in Pro plus unlimited users
The yearly toggle reads "Yearly = 2 months free", and the figures match it exactly: $250, $650 and $1,390 a year are ten monthly payments each. That works out to $20.83, $54.17 and $115.83 a month, a discount of about 17 percent. Above 3,000 keywords, a Custom plan is listed as "Starting from $139 /mo" with unlimited keywords, backlinks and pages marked with an asterisk, and a contact button instead of a price.
Prices print with a dollar sign and are written straight into the page markup, not swapped by region, so the number you read is the number on the card. SEOwl is hosted in the EU and made in France, so check the currency and any VAT line at checkout before you put the figure in a budget. The trial is 7 days, with no credit card required.
An SEOwl keyword is a phrase, a URL, an engine and a device.
"One Search is 1 keyword tracked for 1 URL on 1 search engine. Every URL/Keyword/Search-Engine combination counts as one. Each Local combination (different location) or Mobile combination (other than desktop) counts as one."
SEOwl rank tracker page, "What counts as a tracked keyword?", read October 2026.
That is the standard rule in this market, and it is fair: a mobile search and a desktop search are two different result pages. It does mean the number on the card is the ceiling for one device in one place. Turn on mobile and the allowance halves. Add two cities and it halves again.
SerpsTracker checks one Google organic result per keyword per day, so 800 phrases use 800 keywords. The trade is real: we do not split by device or city at all.

Worked from SEOwl's own definition and its monthly prices. The fourth card is where most switching conversations start: 800 phrases on two devices pushes a team past Pro 1000, and the next step up costs more than double.
SEOwl vs SerpsTracker at five keyword counts, monthly and yearly.
Google desktop only, one location, so SEOwl's multiplier stays at one. Each cell is the cheapest plan that covers the count, with the yearly bill in full rather than a monthly equivalent. The last column is scored on price alone.
| Daily keywords | SEOwl, monthly / per year | SerpsTracker, monthly / per year | Cheaper |
|---|---|---|---|
| 250 | Solo 250: $25 / $250 | Starter: $39 / $234 | SEOwl monthly, SerpsTracker yearly by $16 |
| 1,000 | Pro 1000: $65 / $650 | Growth (1,500): $99 / $594 | SEOwl monthly, SerpsTracker yearly by $56 |
| 1,500 | Agency 3000: $139 / $1,390 | Growth: $99 / $594 | SerpsTracker, both ways |
| 3,000 | Agency 3000: $139 / $1,390 | Agency (5,000): $249 / $1,494 | SEOwl, both ways |
| 5,000 | Custom, from $139, quoted | Agency: $249 / $1,494 | Not comparable, SEOwl quotes |
Up to 1,000, monthly
SEOwl wins. $25 for 250 keywords and $65 for 1,000 are below our $39 and $99, and both come with backlink and page monitoring we do not offer. Month to month on a small list, SEOwl is the better buy.
The 1,000 to 3,000 gap
SEOwl has no plan between 1,000 and 3,000 keywords. Keyword 1,001 moves you from $65 to $139. SerpsTracker Growth covers 1,500 for $99, or $594 for the year against $1,390 on SEOwl Agency yearly. That band is where switching saves real money.
At 3,000 keywords
SEOwl wins again, clearly. Agency 3000 at $139 is the cheaper route to 3,000 daily keywords, with unlimited users added. Our Agency plan at $249 only pays off if you need room up to 5,000 or the published price at that size.
How SEOwl sits against the rest of the budget end of the market is in the rank tracker cost comparison, and the cheapest daily options are priced in the cheapest rank tracker breakdown.
SEOwl vs SerpsTracker, feature by feature.
SEOwl calls itself an SEO monitoring platform rather than a rank tracker, and the table shows why. SerpsTracker does one job: a daily Google organic check per keyword, the top 10 stored behind it, and an alert the same day a position moves. On features, SEOwl takes most rows.
| SerpsTracker | SEOwl | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $39 a month, $19.50 a month yearly | $25 a month, $20.83 a month yearly; 7-day trial |
| Plan sizes | 250, 1,500, 5,000, then custom | 250, 1,000, 3,000, then custom |
| Yearly discount | 50 percent | Two months free, about 17 percent |
| How keywords are counted | One keyword, one daily Google check | Per URL, engine, location and device |
| Update schedule | Daily | Daily, plus on-demand refresh |
| Desktop and mobile split | No | Yes, counted separately |
| Local tracking | No | Yes, counted separately |
| Result history | Organic top 10 per check | Full HTML snapshot of past results, plus a diff between two dates |
| Competitors | 1, 5 or 10 per site, with the date each overtook you | Unlimited competitors |
| Drop alerts | Per keyword thresholds; email, Slack from Growth | Unlimited alerts on every plan |
| Backlink and page monitoring | No | Yes, 2,500 to 30,000 backlinks checked daily |
| Client sharing and white label | No; CSV export on every plan | Read-only share link; white label from Pro |
| Users | Per plan | Unlimited users on Agency |
| Analytics and Search Console data | No | Google Analytics, Search Console and Looker Studio connectors |
| API | Agency plan, $249 | REST API listed as a feature; the plan is not stated |
| Best for | Google-only lists of 1,001 to 2,500 keywords, and yearly billing | Small sites, link builders, agencies that share dashboards |
Scored honestly, SEOwl takes the entry price, devices, locations, on-demand refresh, history, competitors, backlinks, sharing, users and integrations. SerpsTracker takes the price between 1,001 and 2,500 keywords, the yearly price at 250 and 1,000, the simpler count, and the dated overtakes in the rank table. If you log in to SEOwl mainly for the backlink tab, that row alone decides it for SEOwl.
Switch if you are one of these SEOwl customers.
-
Your list just crossed 1,000 keywords
Keyword 1,001 doubles the SEOwl bill from $65 to $139. Our Growth plan covers 1,500 Google keywords for $99 a month, or $594 for the year against $1,390 on SEOwl Agency yearly.
-
You pay yearly and only read rankings
If the backlink and page tabs go unopened, a yearly SerpsTracker plan is cheaper at 250 and at 1,000 keywords, and much cheaper at 1,500.
-
You want a drop flagged the day it happens
Both tools refresh daily. We built ours around the alert: set a threshold per keyword and get the email, or the Slack message from Growth, the morning a position moves.
Stay on SEOwl if any of these is true.
-
You monitor backlinks you paid for
SEOwl rechecks every tracked backlink daily and flags removals and nofollow switches. We have nothing like it, and a separate link monitor costs more than the SEOwl plan.
-
Clients log in to see their rankings
SEOwl gives each website a read-only share link, white label from Pro and unlimited users on Agency. We export CSV, offer an API on Agency, and do not generate branded dashboards.
-
You track around 3,000 keywords, or need mobile and cities
$139 for 3,000 is hard to beat, and if device or city splits matter, SEOwl measures them and we do not.
Export, drop the device rows, run both for two weeks.
Step 01
Export from SEOwl
Pull your keyword list and a copy of the ranking history before you change anything. History does not move between trackers, so the export is your record.
Step 02
Keep one row per phrase
Mobile and local combinations show up as extra rows. Keep the desktop row for each phrase: that is the list SerpsTracker checks on Google every day.
Step 03
Paste into SerpsTracker
Add the site and paste the keyword column, one per line. First readings arrive within minutes, so the two trackers overlap from day one.
Step 04
Downgrade at renewal
If you keep SEOwl for backlinks, drop to the plan that fits your remaining keywords at your next renewal rather than cancelling outright.
The full checklist is in how to switch rank trackers without losing your ranking history. Two trackers rarely agree on the same morning, and how accurate are rank trackers explains why a one or two place gap is normal.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best SEOwl alternative?
It depends on what you use SEOwl for. If you track between 1,000 and 3,000 Google keywords and only read desktop positions, SerpsTracker Growth covers 1,500 keywords daily for $99 a month or $49.50 a month on yearly billing. If you rely on SEOwl backlink monitoring, mobile and local splits or its shareable white label link, stay on SEOwl.
How much does SEOwl cost?
SEOwl Solo is $25 a month for 250 keywords, Pro is $65 for 1,000 keywords and Agency is $139 for 3,000 keywords. Yearly billing is $250, $650 and $1,390, which the pricing page describes as two months free. A Custom plan starts from $139 a month for larger keyword, backlink and page counts.
Does SEOwl have a free trial?
Yes. SEOwl offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card required, and the pricing page buttons read "Get started for free" on every plan. There is no permanent free plan on the pricing page, so after seven days you pick Solo, Pro, Agency or Custom.
How does SEOwl count keywords?
SEOwl counts one keyword as one keyword tracked for one URL on one search engine. Each local location and each mobile combination counts as another one. So 400 phrases tracked on desktop and mobile use 800 of your allowance, which moves you from Solo 250 to Pro 1000.
Does SEOwl track mobile rankings?
Yes. SEOwl says its rank tracker supports both desktop and mobile, locally and globally, with an automatic daily refresh plus on-demand updates. Mobile is counted as a separate keyword. SerpsTracker records one Google organic position per keyword per day and does not split desktop from mobile.
Does SEOwl monitor backlinks?
Yes, and it is included in the price. Solo covers 2,500 backlinks, Pro 10,000 and Agency 30,000, each checked daily for removal or a switch to nofollow. SerpsTracker has no backlink monitoring at all, so if you use that part of SEOwl, a pure rank tracker does not replace it.
Is SEOwl cheaper than SerpsTracker?
On monthly billing at 250, 1,000 and 3,000 keywords, yes: $25, $65 and $139 against our $39, $99 and $249. On yearly billing we are cheaper at 250 keywords ($234 against $250 a year), at 1,000 ($594 against $650) and at 1,500 ($594 against $1,390).
What does SEOwl do that SerpsTracker does not?
A lot. SEOwl adds backlink monitoring, page change monitoring, desktop and mobile splits, local tracking, on-demand refreshes, stored HTML snapshots of past results, a white label share link from Pro, unlimited users on Agency and Google Analytics and Search Console data next to your keywords. SerpsTracker does one daily Google check per keyword with same-day drop alerts.
Pricing other budget trackers against SEOwl? The Serpfox alternative covers another low-cost tracker that counts devices separately, the SERPRobot alternative prices the cheapest daily checks on the market, and the rank drop alerts page shows what a same day alert looks like.
