Ahrefs pricing: how much Ahrefs costs per month, per seat, and per tracked keyword

The short answer

Ahrefs costs $129 a month for Lite, $249 for Standard, $449 for Advanced and $1,499 for Enterprise, plus a $29 Starter plan. Two things decide whether that is expensive for you, and neither is on the headline. First, Starter does not include Rank Tracker, so the cheapest plan that tracks rankings at all is Lite at $129. Second, Ahrefs lists Rank Tracker update frequency as weekly on all four plans, including the $1,499 Enterprise tier. Daily positions are sold as a Project Boost add on billed per project on top of the subscription.

Every figure below was read off ahrefs.com/pricing, ahrefs.com/rank-tracker and the Ahrefs help center on August 20, 2026. Serpstracker is a competing rank tracker and is not affiliated with Ahrefs. The section on what Ahrefs is genuinely worth paying for is as specific as the rest of the page.

The list price

What Ahrefs costs in August 2026.

Four full plans plus a cut down Starter tier and a free account for sites you own. Annual billing is advertised as saving up to 17 percent. The column most buyers skip is the last one, because it is the only column that tells you how often the ranking numbers you are paying for actually change.

Ahrefs plan pricing, tracked keyword limits and Rank Tracker update frequency, August 2026
Plan Monthly Annual, per month Tracked keywords Users included Rank Tracker updates
Starter $29 Monthly only No Rank Tracker 1 Not included
Lite $129 About $108 750 1 Weekly
Standard $249 About $208 2,000 1 Weekly
Advanced $449 About $374 5,000 1 Weekly
Enterprise $1,499 Annual commitment From 10,000 From 3 Weekly

Project counts run 5, 20, 50 and 100 on Lite through Enterprise for sites you have not verified, and are uncapped once you verify ownership. Historical data runs 6 months, 2 years, 5 years and unlimited. Crawl credits for Site Audit run 100,000, 500,000, 1.5 million and from 5 million.

How we read these prices

Ahrefs prices by region, so the number you see depends on where you are browsing from. The figures above are the US dollar list prices. Requested from a European address on the same day, the same page returned 27, 119, 229, 419 and 1,394 euros. The plan limits are identical either way, so only the currency and the amount move.

The line that changes the decision

Ahrefs tracks your AI prompts daily and your rankings weekly.

This is the single most consequential line on the Ahrefs pricing page, and it is the one almost every pricing roundup leaves out. In the plan comparison table, the Rank Tracker row reads weekly across all four columns. Four rows further down, the Brand Radar row, which covers tracked AI prompts, reads daily across all four columns. Same page, same table, same subscription.

What is being tracked Lite $129 Standard $249 Advanced $449 Enterprise $1,499
Google rankings (Rank Tracker) Weekly Weekly Weekly Weekly
AI prompts (Brand Radar) Daily Daily Daily Daily

Ahrefs is consistent about this in its own documentation. The Rank Tracker product page lists the two available cadences as weekly, marked default, and daily, marked as requiring the Project Boost add on. The help center article on tracked keyword update frequency, dated April 7, 2026, puts it plainly: with all subscription plans, the default update frequency for tracked keywords in Rank Tracker is weekly. Paying more does not change it. Enterprise at $1,499 a month gets the same weekly cadence as Lite at $129.

Whether that matters depends entirely on what you use rankings for. If you check a client report once a month, weekly readings are fine and the distinction is academic. If you are trying to connect a ranking drop to a deployment, a title change or a core update, a weekly reading gives you a window up to seven days wide, and the thing that caused the drop is usually somewhere inside that window. We wrote up the practical difference in weekly vs daily rank tracking.

What the headline price leaves out

One seat, and everything else billed on top.

Lite, Standard and Advanced each include exactly one user. Not one admin plus viewers, one user. A three person in house team on Advanced is not paying $449 a month, it is paying $449 plus two seats. Seat caps also apply: Lite tops out at 2 extra users, Standard at 5, Advanced at 10, and only Enterprise is uncapped.

Ahrefs add on and extra seat pricing, August 2026
Line item Price Billed how
Extra seat on Lite About $40 Per user, per month, up to 2
Extra seat on Standard About $60 Per user, per month, up to 5
Extra seat on Advanced About $80 Per user, per month, up to 10
Project Boost Pro $20 Per project, per month
Project Boost Max $200 Per project, per month
Report Builder $99 Per month, 50 reports
Content Kit From $99 Per month
Brand Radar AI standalone From $199 Per month

One honest caveat on the Project Boost figures. Ahrefs now publishes both Boost prices on its pricing page, which it did not earlier this year, so the add on is no longer unpriceable. But the feature bullets Ahrefs lists under Boost Pro and Boost Max are all Site Audit, Site Explorer, IndexNow and AI capabilities. Neither the pricing page, the Project Boosts product page nor the help center article on Boost add ons mentions rank tracking. The Rank Tracker page is the only place Ahrefs connects daily positions to Project Boost, and it does not say which of the two tiers delivers it. If daily rankings are the reason you are buying, ask Ahrefs support to confirm the tier in writing before you commit, because the difference between the two is roughly $20 and $200 per project per month.

Two more billing details worth knowing. Ahrefs states in its own pricing FAQ that it never runs discounts, and that switching to annual billing is not self serve, you have to email support to do it. There is no free trial on paid plans. Ahrefs Free exists, but it only works on sites you have verified ownership of and gives limited access to Site Explorer and Site Audit, not to Rank Tracker.

The comparable number

Cost per tracked keyword, at each tool's own cadence.

Plan prices are not comparable across tools until you divide by what they track. The table below does that, and keeps the cadence column visible, because a keyword checked weekly and a keyword checked daily are not the same product at the same price. Ahrefs rows use the weekly default.

Cost per tracked keyword per month across Ahrefs plans and dedicated rank trackers, August 2026
Plan Monthly Keywords Cadence Cost per keyword
Ahrefs Lite $129 750 Weekly $0.172
Ahrefs Standard $249 2,000 Weekly $0.125
Ahrefs Advanced $449 5,000 Weekly $0.090
Ahrefs Enterprise $1,499 From 10,000 Weekly $0.150
Serpstracker Starter $39 250 Daily $0.156
Serpstracker Growth $99 1,500 Daily $0.066
Serpstracker Agency $249 5,000 Daily $0.050

The clearest row to read is the 5,000 keyword one, because both tools sell exactly that number. Ahrefs Advanced is $449 a month for 5,000 keywords read once a week. Serpstracker Agency is $249 a month for 5,000 keywords read every day. That is a little over half the price for roughly seven times as many readings per keyword. It is also, deliberately, a much narrower product: no backlink index, no Content Explorer, no site audit crawler. The wider field is laid out in our rank tracker cost comparison.

Where Ahrefs is worth the money

What $129 a month actually buys you.

We sell a competing rank tracker, so treat this section as the one where we are arguing against ourselves, and hold it to that standard.

The backlink index

This is the real product. Ahrefs runs one of the most active crawlers on the web and its own help center describes fresh link data landing every 15 to 30 minutes, with a complete database refresh taking around two months. Nothing in the dedicated rank tracker category comes close, and nothing we sell competes with it at all.

Keywords Explorer

Volume, difficulty, clickstream derived click data and SERP history across a very large keyword database. If keyword research is a weekly job for you rather than an occasional one, this alone can justify the subscription.

Site Audit

A genuine crawler with 100,000 to 1.5 million crawl credits a month depending on tier, plus the always on auditing and Patches features the Project Boost add ons extend. A standalone crawler of that capability is not cheap either.

Content Explorer

Searching content by traffic, links and mentions is a distinct research workflow that very few tools replicate, and it is bundled from Standard upward.

Brand Radar

Tracked AI prompt visibility, updated daily, is a newer category and Ahrefs shipped a credible version of it. Allowances are small on the lower tiers at 5, 10 and 20 prompts, so read that row before assuming it covers your list.

It is one bill

Replacing Ahrefs with a link tool, a keyword tool, a crawler and a rank tracker usually costs more than $129 a month and definitely costs more attention. Bundling has real value even when each individual part is beatable.

Where Serpstracker fits

Buy us instead of Ahrefs only if you were buying it for the ranking table.

If you open Ahrefs for Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer or Content Explorer, keep paying for it. We do not build any of those and are not trying to. The trade is only worth considering in one situation: the ranking table is the report you actually look at, and weekly readings are not close enough to the change you are trying to explain.

What we do

Daily Google positions for every tracked keyword, set per location and per device. Each phrase, city and device combination is its own tracked keyword. Every check stores the organic top 10 behind your position, so you can see who moved past you, not just that someone did.

What it costs

Starter is $39 a month for 250 keywords, 3 sites and 1 competitor. Growth is $99 for 1,500 keywords, 10 sites, 5 competitors and 3 seats. Agency is $249 for 5,000 keywords, unlimited sites, 10 competitors, 10 seats, white label and API access. Annual billing takes 20 percent off. There is no free plan.

Alerts

Email drop alerts on every plan. Slack alerts start on Growth. Alerts fire the same day the drop is recorded, which is the practical point of checking daily in the first place.

What we do not have

No backlink index, no site audit crawler, no content research tool, no keyword volume database. No share of voice or visibility score. We track Google organic only, so no Bing, no map pack and no marketplace rankings. If you need any of those, a suite is the right purchase and this page has told you what it costs.

A lot of teams end up running both, and that is a perfectly sensible outcome. We wrote about when it makes sense in do you need a rank tracker with Semrush or Ahrefs, and the full side by side is on Serpstracker vs Ahrefs Rank Tracker.

Ahrefs pricing questions

Questions people ask before they subscribe.

How much does Ahrefs cost?

Ahrefs costs $129 a month for Lite, $249 for Standard, $449 for Advanced and $1,499 for Enterprise, with a limited Starter plan at $29. Annual billing is advertised at up to 17 percent off, which works out to roughly $108, $208 and $374 a month on the three main tiers. There is no free trial on paid plans.

How much does Ahrefs cost per month?

The cheapest full Ahrefs plan is Lite at $129 per month. The $29 Starter plan is cheaper but is a cut down product that does not include Rank Tracker, Site Audit or the full Site Explorer. For most buyers comparing Ahrefs against other SEO tools, $129 a month is the real entry price.

What is the cheapest Ahrefs plan that includes rank tracking?

Lite at $129 a month. Rank Tracker appears in the included features list from Lite upward and is absent from the $29 Starter plan, which Ahrefs positions separately alongside its free account rather than inside the main plan grid. Lite covers 750 tracked keywords.

Does Ahrefs update rankings daily?

Not by default. Ahrefs lists Rank Tracker update frequency as weekly on all four plans, including the $1,499 Enterprise tier, and its help center states that weekly is the default on all subscription plans. The Rank Tracker product page offers daily as an option requiring the paid Project Boost add on, billed per project on top of the subscription.

How many keywords can you track with Ahrefs?

Lite tracks 750 keywords, Standard 2,000, Advanced 5,000 and Enterprise from 10,000. Those allowances are for weekly checking. Tracked AI prompts are counted separately and much more tightly, at 5, 10 and 20 on the three main tiers.

How many users are included in an Ahrefs plan?

One. Lite, Standard and Advanced each include a single user, and extra seats cost roughly $40, $60 and $80 per user per month, capped at 2, 5 and 10 additional users respectively. Enterprise starts at 3 included users and allows unlimited additional seats.

What is Project Boost in Ahrefs?

Project Boost is a per project add on sold in two tiers, Pro at $20 a month per project and Max at $200. The features Ahrefs lists for both are Site Audit, Site Explorer, IndexNow and AI capabilities. The Rank Tracker page also names Project Boost as the route to daily position updates, without specifying which tier, so confirm that with support before buying.

Does Ahrefs have a free trial?

No. Ahrefs states in its pricing FAQ that it never runs discounts, and it does not offer a trial on paid plans. The free option is Ahrefs Free, which gives limited access to Site Explorer and Site Audit for websites you have verified ownership of. It does not include Rank Tracker.

How much does Ahrefs Enterprise cost?

Ahrefs publishes an Enterprise price of $1,499 a month with an annual commitment required, which is unusual in this category since most vendors quote enterprise tiers privately. It adds uncapped API access, SSO, access management and an audit log, unlimited historical data and higher export limits.

Can you pay for Ahrefs annually?

Yes, and it saves up to 17 percent, but it is not self serve. Ahrefs states in its pricing FAQ that switching to annual billing requires contacting the support team. Ahrefs also states it does not issue refunds in general, so treat an annual commitment as committed.

Is Ahrefs worth it?

It is worth it if you regularly use the backlink index, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit or Content Explorer, because replacing those individually costs more than $129 a month. It is poor value if the ranking table is the only report you open, since $129 for 750 keywords checked weekly is several times what a dedicated daily tracker charges for the same job.

Why do Ahrefs prices look different on other sites?

Two reasons. Ahrefs prices by region, so the same page returns dollars, euros or another currency depending on where you browse from. And the plan lineup changed: the $29 Starter tier and the Brand Radar AI prompt tracking rows are recent additions, so older roundups list four plans where there are now five products on the page.

For the cadence question specifically, how often Ahrefs updates rankings covers positions, Domain Rating and the backlink index separately, and how much a rank tracker costs explains the pricing units this category uses.
