SE Ranking API pricing and API credit costs by plan, endpoint and volume

The short answer

Every SE Ranking plan includes API access. Core at $129 a month carries 25,000 research API credits a month and Growth at $279 carries 100,000, plus the Projects API and MCP. Without a subscription, SE Ranking's docs price the Data API from $2,148 a year for 12 million credits. Rank tracking through the API does not use credits at all: it uses your plan's keyword limit.

Read from seranking.com/subscription.html, the API pricing page and SE Ranking's API documentation in October 2026. SE Ranking shows prices in the visitor's local currency; where only a euro figure was shown to us, we say so. We are not affiliated with SE Ranking.

How SE Ranking sells API access

Three ways to pay for the same API, and they are priced very differently.

SE Ranking runs two APIs under one key. The Data API returns research data, such as keyword volumes, backlink profiles, domain overviews, site audits and AI search visibility, and it is billed in credits. The Project API manages your SE Ranking workspace: it creates projects, adds keywords, runs position checks and pulls the rankings back out. It is not billed in credits. It draws on the limits of the subscription you already pay for.

That split decides what you actually pay. A developer who wants keyword volumes for a content tool needs credits. An agency that wants daily rankings in Looker Studio needs a plan with enough tracked keywords, and the credits are a bonus. Most pricing roundups treat these as one number, which is why the figures they quote rarely match an invoice.

Core and Growth dollar prices come from SE Ranking's own API FAQ ("Core at $129/mo and Growth at $279/mo"); its subscription page showed us the same plans at EUR 109 and EUR 235 a month, with 20% off on annual billing. The standalone ladder is the USD table in SE Ranking's Data API documentation.

Standalone credit packages

The standalone Data API price ladder, from 12 million to 120 million credits a year.

SE Ranking's documentation publishes the standalone Data API as annual packages, paid upfront, with credits issued at the start of the year. The price per million credits falls from $179 to $85 as volume rises, and anything outside these steps goes to sales. Enterprise contracts above 120 million credits are advertised on the pricing page "as low as $30/1M credits".

What the pricing page showed us instead

The marketing page for the API, rendered to us in euros, packages the same product differently: a 14 day trial with 100,000 credits, a Wallet at EUR 45 per 250,000 credits that never expire, a Standalone plan at EUR 155 a month billed annually, and an API add-on for existing subscribers at EUR 39 a month billed annually.

SE Ranking's older API landing page adds a third version in dollars: an add-on "starts at $149/month" and pay as you go needs "a $50 minimum deposit". Three of the vendor's own pages, three packagings. Ask for the quote in writing with the credit count on it before you build on any of them.

What each call costs

Credit costs per endpoint, and what 25,000 credits buys on Core.

Each Data API endpoint is charged per request, per record returned, or both, and only successful 2xx responses are billed. The spread is wide. A long tail keyword row costs 1 credit, an aggregated AI search overview costs 1,800. The table below is from SE Ranking's unit cost list; the last column is our arithmetic on the 25,000 monthly credits that come with Core.

Endpoint Charged Credits On Core's 25,000 a month
Keyword metrics export Per keyword 10 2,500 keywords
Related, similar or question keywords Per keyword returned 10 2,500 rows
Long tail keywords Per keyword returned 1 25,000 rows
Domain overview or domain keywords Per request 100 250 lookups
Domain competitors or keyword gap Per request 100 250 lookups
Backlink summary Per domain 100 250 domains
Backlink list or export Per backlink 1 25,000 backlinks
Website audit, standard Per page 2 12,500 pages
Website audit, advanced Per page 20 1,250 pages
AI search overview, aggregated Per request 1,800 13 requests
AI search leaderboard Per request 7,500 3 requests
Rank tracking through the Project API Plan keyword limit 0 2,000 daily keywords

Read the last row twice. There is no live SERP or rank check endpoint in the Data API credit list. Rankings come out of the Project API, and SE Ranking's docs say plainly that adding a keyword through the API counts against the plan's keyword limit exactly as it would in the app. So the cost of rank data through SE Ranking's API is the cost of a plan big enough for your list: $129 for 2,000 daily keywords, $279 for 5,000.

For research work the included credits go further than they look if you pick endpoints carefully, and not very far if you do not. SE Ranking's own worked example, backlink summaries for 250 domains plus a full export of 50,000 links for one of them, comes to 75,000 credits. That is three months of Core, or most of one month of Growth.

Daily rankings through an API

SE Ranking API vs SerpsTracker API for daily Google positions.

If the job is getting each morning's Google positions into a dashboard, a client portal or a spreadsheet, this is the comparison that matters. SE Ranking wins on breadth: research data, backlinks, audits and AI search sit behind the same key. We win on price for the tracking job and on not metering anything.

Who should pick which

Pick SerpsTracker if this is you.

  • You only need positions out of the API

Research credits you never spend are still in the price. Our Agency plan is the tracking job alone, 5,000 daily keywords for $249.

  • You hate forecasting credits

No units, no per record charges, no 403 Insufficient funds halfway through a client report run.

  • You report on many small sites

Agency covers unlimited sites. On SE Ranking, project counts of 10 and 30 become the limit before the keyword count does.

Buy SE Ranking if any of these is true.

  • You need keyword and backlink data too

Volumes, related keywords, backlink profiles and domain traffic come through the same key. We do not sell research data.

  • You track past page one or beyond Google

SE Ranking reads the top 100 and other engines. We read Google's organic top 10.

  • AI search visibility is part of the brief

Prompt tracking and AI search endpoints are in the plans. We do not track AI answers.

Budgeting an SE Ranking API project

Four steps to price an SE Ranking API build before you sign.

Step 01

Split the calls

List what is research (credits) and what is tracking (plan limits). They are priced by different rules.

Step 02

Price a month of research

Multiply each call by its credit cost and compare with 25,000 on Core or 100,000 on Growth.

Step 03

Size the tracking plan

Count keywords times engines and locations against 2,000 or 5,000 daily, and projects against 10 or 30.

Step 04

Get the quote in writing

SE Ranking's own pages package add-ons three ways. Ask for credits, expiry and price on one line.

The same breakdown for the other suites is in our Semrush API pricing page and the Ahrefs API pricing and Moz API pricing articles. For raw search result pages rather than finished rankings, see the SERP API pricing comparison.

SE Ranking API questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does the SE Ranking API cost?

API access comes with every SE Ranking subscription: Core at $129 a month includes 25,000 research API credits a month and Growth at $279 includes 100,000, both with the Projects API and MCP. Standalone Data API packages in SE Ranking's docs run from $2,148 a year for 12 million credits to $10,200 for 120 million.

Is the SE Ranking API free?

Only for 14 days. The trial gives 100,000 API credits across every Data API endpoint plus MCP access, with no credit card, and the credits expire when the trial ends. Trial accounts are also held to 1 request per second on the Data API, against 10 on a paid key.

What is an SE Ranking API credit?

A credit is the unit SE Ranking bills Data API usage in. Each successful call is charged either a flat number of credits per request or a number per record returned, and failed 4xx or 5xx calls cost nothing. A domain overview is 100 credits per request, a keyword metrics export 10 credits per keyword.

Can I track keyword rankings through the SE Ranking API?

Yes, but not with credits. Rank tracking runs through the Project API, which adds keywords, runs position checks and returns positions against your subscription limits. Core tracks 2,000 keywords daily and Growth 5,000, so the keyword limit of your plan is the real price of rank data through the API.

What are the SE Ranking API rate limits?

SE Ranking documents 10 requests per second per key on the Data API and 5 per second on the Project API, with HTTP 429 returned above that. Trial keys get 1 request per second on the Data API. Polling an asynchronous export counts against the same 10 per second limit.

Do SE Ranking API credits roll over?

It depends on how you bought them. Pay as you go Wallet credits never expire. Credits on an annual Standalone or add-on plan are issued upfront and expire at the end of the billing year, and top-ups bought on top of a subscription do not expire. Trial credits end with the 14 days.

Is there an SE Ranking API without the subscription?

Yes. The API pricing page sells a Standalone Data API plan, billed annually, that needs no web app subscription, and a Wallet you top up as you go. Neither includes the Project API, so standalone buyers get research data such as keywords, backlinks and audits but not managed rank tracking.

What is a cheaper alternative to the SE Ranking API for daily rankings?

If you only need daily Google positions in your own dashboard, SerpsTracker Agency tracks 5,000 keywords daily on unlimited sites with the API included for $249 a month, or $1,494 a year billed yearly. SE Ranking Growth tracks the same 5,000 for $279 a month and adds keyword and backlink research we do not offer.
